Elvis Presley Haunted Home Alone Fans For 41 Years After His Death Until Finally Getting Some
Elvis Presley’s death on August 16, 1977, came as a massive blow to his fans, so much so, that several of them believed that he wasn’t truly gone. Many even claimed that Presley faked his demise on the bathroom floor of his Graceland mansion. But those doubts and conspiracies strengthened when Home Alone made its way to the theatres.

In Chris Columbus’ movie that featured Macaulay Culkin, there was an airport scene that had a cameo from an extra, who looked like Elvis Presley. Fans simply lost their minds and began believing that it was indeed the King of rock and roll. However, in 2018, the myth was finally busted, when the actual actor from the cameo scene was brought to light.
Conspiracy of Elvis Presley’s Cameo in Home Alone
With Christmas around the corner, Chris Columbus’ Home Alone comes as a fan-favorite choice of movie. But there’s an old conspiracy theory surrounding the movie that involves the late King of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. According to the singer’s fans, Presley never died and instead faked his death in his Graceland mansion.

Therefore, the star was able to appear in a cameo role in Macaulay Culkin’s movie Home Alone. Although the singer died more than a decade prior to the movie’s release, Elvis Presley’s fans believed that he was the extra, who was spotted in the airport scene in the movie.

In the airport scene, there are a bunch of extras spotted behind Catherine O’Hara’s character. Many believe that the man who appears over O’Hara’s left shoulder happened to have a striking resemblance to Elvis Presley. They even asserted for years that the man was indeed Presley since he made a similar head movement to the singer frequently made during concerts.
Elvis Presley’s Cameo Myth Found its Closure
For years, fans desperately tried to make their point and prove that Elvis Presley was still alive and he had previously faked his death. However, unfortunately, the conspiracy found its closure in 2018, after an article was published in Skeptical Inquirer that proved that the actor in the cameo scene was Gary Richard Grott.

After much mayhem and shenanigans, YouTuber John Stiller made a video debunking the fact that it wasn’t Elvis Presley in the cameo. Adding a comment from Kathryn Rydz who was friends with Gary Richard Grott’s ex-partner, Stiller proved his point. Later on, under his YouTube video, Grott’s wife commented, “yes, sorry, guys, this is my deceased husband Gary Grott. I didn’t want to ruin your hope”.

Tracking down Gary Richard Grott’s living family, Kenny Biddle from Skeptical Inquirer reached out to the late actor’s son Roman, who further confirmed that it was his father and not Elvis Presley in the Home Alone cameo scene. “My dad, Gary Richard Grott, was indeed the extra in the airport scene of Home Alone. He knew [director] Chris Columbus personally.” Roman shared.
Thereafter, the myth about Elvis Presley’s cameo in Home Alone was busted and found its closure forever.
